Are there statistics on how much an ICHRA can save a small business?
Yes, and the only honest way to state them is county by county: across the counties we track for plan year 2026, the gap between the lowest-cost small group and individual plans ranges from under $100 to over $1,000 per employee per month.
A national average would be misleading, because the number is a local market relationship rather than a property of the ICHRA itself. Morrow County, Ohio sits at roughly $1,010 per employee per month at the silver age-50 benchmark. Fulton County, Georgia, which contains most of Atlanta, sits at about $98. Same product, same plan year, completely different answer.
What that means for a company: multiply your headcount by the county figure and by twelve, then cap the result at what you actually contribute today, because you cannot save more than you spend. A 75-employee company in a $500 per month county is looking at roughly $450,000 a year before capping; the same company in a $98 county is looking at about $88,000, which may not justify the change.
Every figure we publish is a range rather than a single number, is labelled an estimate, and compares the same plan year on both sides. Sources are the CMS Marketplace Public Use Files for individual premiums and Ideon for small group.
Last reviewed 2026-08-21. Premium figures are plan year 2026 on both sides of every comparison, from the CMS Marketplace Public Use Files (individual market) and Ideon (small group). Employer counts from BLS QCEW 2024 Q2. All savings figures are ranges and estimates, not quotes or guarantees.

How do I estimate it for my company?
Multiply headcount by the county figure and by twelve, then cap the result at what you actually contribute today, because you cannot save more than you spend.
Where do the numbers come from?
Individual-market premiums from the CMS Marketplace Public Use Files and small group from Ideon, always the same plan year on both sides.
