What should your company actually pay for health insurance?
Premiums are set locally, so the answer is a county question. We compare the lowest-cost small group plan against the lowest-cost individual plan in your own county, same tier, same age, same plan year. Pick your county below.
Ohio
Every one of Ohio's 88 counties clears $200 per employee per month at the silver age-50 benchmark, which very few states do. The range runs $369 to $1,010.

Georgia
Georgia is narrower. Only the counties below combine a meaningful gap with a real base of 25 to 250 employee firms; metro Atlanta sits at roughly $98 per employee per month and generally does not justify a change.

Common questions
Which counties do you price?
All 88 Ohio counties and the eight Georgia counties where the savings and the employer base both justify it: Chatham, Muscogee, Bibb, Houston, Dougherty, Lowndes, Floyd and Glynn. Ohio is the stronger market by a distance, with every county clearing $200 per employee per month at the silver age-50 benchmark for plan year 2026.
Why is Ohio so much better than Georgia for this?
Because of where the savings sit relative to where the employers are. Every Ohio county clears the $200 per employee per month bar, so 100% of the state's population is in a qualifying county. In Georgia only about 42% is, and metro Atlanta — Fulton, Gwinnett, Cobb and DeKalb — sits at roughly $98, below the bar. Georgia's widest gaps are in counties with very few mid-size employers.
Why do neighbouring counties show the same number?
Because both states set premiums by rating area rather than by county. Ohio has 88 counties but only about 30 distinct savings figures, so a county can share its benchmark with several neighbours. What differs between them is the employer base, which is what our county pages lead with.
What does the analysis cost?
Nothing. We price both markets for your county in the same plan year against your actual census and show you the real number. If the maths does not favour a change, we say so and you keep your group plan. Roughly a third of the companies we analyse are better off staying where they are.
All figures are estimates for plan year 2026, the same plan year on both sides of every comparison. Individual-market premiums from the CMS Marketplace Public Use Files, small group from Ideon, employer counts from BLS QCEW 2024 Q2. Actual results depend on your employee census, ages, family composition, plan design and contribution strategy. Ranges, never quotes or guarantees.
